Chipotle Rolls Out Free Burritos for Fans of Men’s Basketball Championship Series
Chipotle customers have the chance to win free burritos in a new promotion.

Chipotle continues to deliver value to its customers with an opportunity to win free burritos via instant freeplays during the 2025 men’s professional basketball championship series. A press release reveals details of this new free food promotion.
Whenever a Coach’s Challenge occurs during the live broadcast of certain games in the 2025 men’s professional basketball championship series, @chipotletweets will share a post on X for fans to “review.” Then, fans will be challenged to uncover a keyword hidden in the post, and the first 5,000 fans who text the keyword to 888222 will win a free entrée.
Every team is granted one Coach’s Challenge per game to contest a personal foul, out-of-bounds call, goaltending, or basket interference ruling against them. Should their first challenge prove successful, they will earn the right to a second challenge.
President and Chief Brand Officer Chris Brandt said in the release, “Having the game come to a halt and watching referees review a play over and over again is rarely enjoyable. We want fans to have fun throughout the game, so we are offering a chance to score free Chipotle during Coach’s Challenge reviews.”
The promotion begins on or around June 5, 2025. Free Entrée Codes will be valid for any regularly priced entrée, subject to availability, for five days following delivery of the Entrée Code. The promotion is only valid in the U.S.
Chipotle Regularly Awards Customers Free Burritos
Chipotle Mexican Grill has become renowned for its creative and recurring free burrito promotions. The fast-food restaurant engages customers through interactive games, seasonal events, and loyalty rewards.
One of the most anticipated campaigns is the eatery’s annual Burrito Vault game, launched around National Burrito Day each April. In 2025, Chipotle offered over $1 million in free burritos through this digital word game, where players guessed burrito combinations to win buy-one-get-one (BOGO) codes and other prizes.
Another popular initiative is the Chipotle IQ trivia challenge. In 2024, participants who scored perfectly could win BOGO codes, with 5,000 codes available per hour. Those who answered an extra credit question correctly were entered into a drawing for free burritos for a year.
Seasonal campaigns like the Summer of Extras further demonstrate Chipotle’s commitment to customer engagement. In 2025, this program distributed $1 million in free burritos to Rewards members, along with bonus points and exclusive offers.
Chipotle Mexican Grill also regularly recognizes teachers and healthcare workers by awarding these professionals with free burrito e-cards. The fast-food icon has subsequently given away more than $16 million in free meals to educators and medical professionals since 2016, per a press release.
