Better Late Than Never: The Polestar 4 Is Now On Sale Ahead of Fall Release

The Polestar 4 started showing up in teasers and media reports a few years ago, but it saw significant delays and won’t start reaching buyers’ driveways until this fall. The automaker recently confirmed the long-delayed EV’s arrival, noting a higher-than-expected starting price and a South Korean production location.

Polestar first announced the 4 way back in early 2023, initially promising a release date in 2024. The automaker even invited journalists to drive the car that summer, but last year passed with no new EV from Polestar. That said, while buyers can now order a new Polestar 4, it will still be a few months before they receive their cars.

Part of the delay is likely due to the Trump Administration’s trade war, which hit Chinese-owned Polestar and Volvo particularly hard. The company initially planned to produce the 4 in China and wanted to build the first round of U.S.-bound vehicles there before planning to move all production to South Korea to avoid the heaviest tariff impacts.

When it arrives, the Polestar 4 will have a slightly higher starting price than we last heard. The automaker said the car now starts at $57,800, a $1,500 increase over the previously announced starting price. The up-level Dual Motor variant did not see a price hike, however, and will go on sale at $64,300.
