Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx is expanding its UK retail footprint with a new store in Manchester, marking its first location outside of London.
The brand has signed for a unit on New Cathedral Street, opposite the Arndale Centre and close to Represent’s flagship, which opened in October 2024.
The new store is scheduled to open this summer and will become the brand’s fourth UK location, joining existing sites at Covent Garden (its largest store in Europe), Piccadilly, and Battersea Power Station.
“Manchester is a vibrant urban hub that serves as a launchpad for outdoor enthusiasts,” Arc’teryx general manager EMEA Sven Radtke said:
“Its proximity to diverse natural landscapes makes it a gateway to the outdoors and a haven for hiking, climbing and other activities. Our goal is to help our core communities get out, doing what they love, equipped with the most high performance gear to reach their goals.”
Global Mutual head of European retail asset management Steve Gray said: “Arc’teryx has become a hugely popular brand among younger shoppers, so we are delighted it has selected New Cathedral Street as its first UK store outside London.
“Its arrival highlights the continued demand we are seeing from leading brands keen to expand out of London, with Manchester becoming the next step on their UK expansion plans thanks to its growing population and strong consumer spend.”
M&G Real Estate portfolio director Scott Linard added: “The arrival of Arc’teryx further enhances New Cathedral Street’s reputation as the home of premium brands in Manchester.
“Over the past few years, we have been proud to welcome growing brands such as Arc’teryx and Represent seeking high-quality, well-located physical retail space outside London. With our strong customer base and reputation as the go-to fashion destination in the North West, we look forward to welcoming more new brands to Manchester.”
