Serving as a comprehensive reference, the RSL outlines all banned and restricted chemicals in finished apparel, footwear, accessories, and home textiles while identifying the strictest regulations applicable worldwide. Additionally, the report includes an Appendix on Reporting, detailing US states where laws require reporting on the chemicals present in children's products and European reporting requirements. “Our members invest millions to build, train, operate, and inspect supply chains to ensure that the clothes, shoes, and accessories bought and worn by American families are not only fashionable and affordable but are also safe and ethically and sustainably sourced and made,” said Steve Lamar, CEO and president of AAFA president, in a statement. “Unlike counterfeit goods that dodge product safety inspection, trusted brands are held to very rigorous standards. Today's updated RSL reflects one tangible part of the chemical management and due diligence taken to ensure those standards are met.” The 25th edition of the RSL includes 16 categories and over 250 chemicals, incorporating the latest regulatory updates on restricted or banned substances in apparel, footwear, accessories, and home textiles. Originally introduced in 2007, the RSL is maintained by AAFA’s RSL Task Force, which continuously reviews and updates the list to align with evolving global regulations.
