Long-wearing Comfort Series Gloves
Brass Knuckle® Safety Products’ (Alpharetta, GA) SmartFlex 400 Series gloves are designed to be comfortable-fitting, general purpose work gloves that afford the wearer abrasion resistance and maximum feel.
There are three gloves in the 400 Series, each suited for a different style of work. SmartFlex BK401 is black nylon with a gray coating to conceal dirt and grime. SmartFlex BK402 is white-on-white, making it easy to identify foreign particles on the glove — ideal for inspectors and quality control. SmartFlex BK403 is black nylon with a black coating, a tough-looking concealer for grimy projects.
Each glove in the 400 Series is carefully constructed for fit but is also very cost-competitive. The lightweight, 13-gauge nylon shell facilitates dexterity and grip, making an immediate impact on productivity. Grip is further enhanced by a polyurethane coating on the palm and fingers that is grippy but not sticky.

Welding Helmet Offers Digital Interface, Extended Shade Range

ESAB Welding and Cutting Products (North Bethesda, MD) recently introduced its enhanced SAVAGE A41 automatic welding helmet, which features an internal digital user interface to adjust auto-darkening filter parameters, a shade range extended to 8-13 (compared to 9-13 for the SAVAGE A40) and a streamlined external Grind Mode that switches the lens to shade 4 for grinding and some cutting processes. The digital interface adjusts shade, delay and sensitivity, has indicators for grind and low battery as well as a test button.
“The new interface eliminates the external shade selection knob and ensures shade settings won’t accidentally change,” said Kevin Beckerdite, global product manager – PPE, ESAB. “The grind button is nearly flush with the helmet, which is similar to our popular Sentinel helmet design. Finally, the addition of a shade 8 setting helps when welding at lower amperages, such as with small diameter MIG wires or tungstens.”
The SAVAGE A41’s ultra-clear True Color lens technology provides a view of the weld puddle and surrounding area, enabling precise bead placement. SAVAGE viewing technology is based on a 1/1/1/2 optical class lens that measures 3.93”-x-1.96” (100 mm-x-50 mm). The viewing area provides a wide field of vision and increased spatial awareness. Four sensors provide a high response, especially when welding out of position. The SAVAGE A41 optional hardhat adapter offers additional safety.
New Safety Air Gun with Gate Valve

EXAIR’s (Cincinnati, OH) TurboBlast® Safety Air Gun is a revolutionary air gun designed to tackle the toughest cleaning and blowoff applications in industrial settings. With the help of an easy-adjust gate valve, the TurboBlast can be fine-tuned to meet the user’s specific needs on the fly. This dynamic air gun is the perfect combination of power, comfort and safety making it the ideal solution for blowoff applications requiring maximum force such as removing stubborn or heavy debris like slag and flash, part drying or cooling from a distance, as well as heavy duty cleanup in busy facilities.
The TurboBlast features a cast aluminum handle with a rugged elastomer grip that’s not only UV and chemical resistant but insulated from heat or cold. The light touch activation trigger creates a powerful blast of air and also includes a “Dead Man’s” grip that turns air off if the air gun is dropped. The TurboBlast is available in multiple different flow rates and extensions up to 6 feet long to provide ease of reaching into difficult to reach areas. All EXAIR Safety Air Guns are CE compliant and meet OSHA standards.

New Variable Retrofit Welding Lens

WALTER Surface Technologies’ (Windsor, CT) new Super Singles Variable retrofit welding lens is the newest addition to the industry-leading Singles family. This lens is an upgrade to the Super Singles lens with versatile new features to help welders improve their productivity.
The Super Singles Variable lens offers ArcOne’s exclusive HD Technology, which increases the range of visible light when looking through the welding lens. This allows welders to see color in its truest form, offering a clearer, more defined view of their work area, helping to improve weld quality and reduce rework.
Key to the upgraded Super Singles Variable lens is its remarkable dark shade range of 6-13, the widest range available in the retrofit lens category and the only of its kind to sport a digital display. With this wider range, users will gain increased flexibility to handle a broader spectrum of tasks, from light-duty to high-intensity welding, all with a single lens.
The Super Singles Variable comes with a robust three-year warranty, which is longer than the industry standard of a two-year warranty in this category.
This lens fits most 2-x-4 welding helmets and is now available at WALTER/ARCONE distribution points.
