US’ RIT develops AI-powered technology for textile recycling
A research team at RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability has developed an AI-powered, fully automated system to identify, sort, and disassemble garments for textile recycling. Using advanced imaging, machine vision, and robotic cutting, it processes garments every 10 seconds. Backed by REMADE Institute funding, it aims to transform post-consumer clothing into high-quality recyclable items.
