CVS Health will not sell its Aetna health plans in the Affordable Care Act’s individual marketplaces in 2026, marking the second time in the past decade that Aetna has given up on ACA coverage.
CVS expects to lose up to $400 million this year in its ACA plans. The conglomerate set aside $448 million in the first quarter to cover medical claims from ACA members that won’t be covered by insurance premiums.
Exiting the ACA marketplaces will force 1 million Aetna enrollees in 17 states to find new health coverage for next year.
