QOTD: What State Should Bring Back Retro License Plates?

It appears the state of Illinois, the state that yours truly calls home, is going to allow residents to pay a bit extra if they want to order license plates that feature the design that ran from 1983 to 2001. If you grew up in the '80s or '90s, or if you watched movies set then, you know the design.

I always loved the design because it's what I grew up with, and Hollywood made it famous (especially John Hughes). I am excited to see it return as an option. Nothing against the current basic design -- they're fine -- but I am glad car owners can choose to go old-school.

I know other states like California have brought back retro plates as an option, so I want to ask you: Which state should bring back retro plates?

Personally, I'd love to see the old New York plates from the '90s come back -- assuming one can't still get them, the NY DMV Web site isn't super user friendly.

Your turn -- what say you?
