Port cargo in China hits 5.75 bn tonnes in early 2025
China's port cargo throughput reached 5.75 billion tonnes in January–April 2025, up 3.7 per cent YoY, while container throughput rose 7.9 per cent to 110 million TEUs, according to the Ministry of Transport. April cargo volume grew 4.8 per cent. Separately, China's May manufacturing PMI rose to 49.5, with new orders improving, signalling strengthened market expectations.
