
Our research examining the more than 3,100 counties of the United States highlights some real progress: the economic and social well-being of Black Americans has improved over the past decade.[1] The research also reveals a troubling reality: Black families are falling further behind their white neighbors. In fact, outcomes for Black residents do not approach those of their white neighbors in any county in the nation with a substantial Black population.
