Drive energy optimisation with data technology

With diverse battery and charger technologies available for material handling applications, Operations and Equipment Managers now have more choices than ever to optimise their energy systems for the unique demands of their operations.

But proliferating battery and charger choices make it increasingly difficult to conduct the careful analysis required to identify optimal energy solutions.

While seemingly complex with a multitude of technologies and sizing options, EnerSys simplifies the path to optimisation – starting with fleet data analysis and simulation modelling to help mitigate the risk associated with selecting a suboptimal system.

Complementing this analysis-focused approach, EnerSys also provides one of the industry’s broadest arrays of battery and charger technologies for both manual and automated material handling equipment, to help support each customer’s specific objectives.

Optimise based on Data, Simulation and Operational Goals

The EnerSys® team begins with an in-depth facility assessment, fleet inventory and review of operational goals. Key operational objectives often include increasing productivity, minimising equipment maintenance costs, managing energy costs, achieving sustainability targets and even facility space constraints. Recognising these goals from the start helps ensure the final solution addresses them from both an immediate and long-term perspective.

Once objectives are outlined, actual energy usage data on equipment is collected with EnerSys® Wi-iQ® battery monitoring devices installed on a representative sample of fleet equipment. This data builds a foundation for evaluating tailored power solutions, which often vary based on equipment type, operating hours, typical payload weights, pick heights and possibly even departmental requirements.

The collected data is analysed through the EnerSys® EnSite™ proprietary simulation modelling tool. By modeling various battery and charger options using real equipment energy data, customers receive detailed, data-driven recommendations to optimise their energy solutions, reducing risks of suboptimal choices – even if there are planned throughput changes or seasonal fluctuations at the facility.

Technology Diversity Facilitates Optimisation

True optimisation depends on having a wide range of options from which to model and select. EnerSys stands out as a leading provider of all major battery technologies for material handling equipment – offering multiple maintenance-free options like their NexSys® TPPL (thin plate pure lead) batteries and high-performance NexSys® iON (lithium-ion) batteries, alongside their proven traditional lines of flooded lead-acid batteries: Perfect PlusTM, Water Less®, Evolution® and Ironclad®.

EnerSys also offers a comprehensive line of chargers to pair with those batteries, including IMPAQ™ chargers for conventional operations and NexSys®+ chargers for enhanced performance. In outdoor applications, the NexSys®+ Outdoor charger provides IP54-rated protection against dirt, water and temperature extremes. To optimise efficiency for automated guided vehicle (AGV) applications, EnerSys also offers the NexSys® AIR wireless charger which is compatible with all their battery technologies.

Sustaining Optimisation with Exceptional Support

Optimisation doesn’t end with deployment. EnerSys® also provides ongoing field service and support, with over 150 authorised service technicians and over 40 service locations across Europe to ensure fleet power solutions remain reliable and efficient.
