China hikes tariffs on US goods to 125% in response to US escalation
China will raise tariffs on US-origin goods from 84 per cent to 125 per cent starting April 12, in retaliation to Washington's matching hike on Chinese exports. Beijing condemned the move as a breach of international trade rules and “unilateral bullying”. It warned that US goods no longer have market viability in China and vowed a firm response if the tariff escalation continues.
