Breaking Defense adds Mike Yeo as new Bureau Chief for Asia and Indo-Pacific region

Breaking Defense is pleased to announce the addition of veteran defense journalist Mike Yeo as our new Indo-Pacific Bureau Chief. Yeo, who is dually based in Singapore and Australia, will begin his new role May 12. He takes over for Colin Clark, who will be moving to a newly created role as Contributing Editor, Indo-Pacific.

As lead for regional news coverage, Yeo will track major defense policy, budgetary and industrial developments across the region, from India to Australia, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the Korean peninsula.

Yeo is highly respected and has a deep understanding of regional defense issues, with more than a decade of experience. He was most recently the defense correspondent for The Straits Times, the major newspaper in Singapore. Prior to that, Yeo covered the region for over five years at Defense News. Mike’s area of interests include air power and regional geo-military and defense-policy issues.

In a related development, Colin Clark, founder of Breaking Defense and the previous bureau chief, is taking on a new role as Contributing Editor, Indo-Pacific. This will enable Clark to provide regular strategy analysis of the region from his perch in Sydney.
