The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has released a new, comprehensive step-by-step guide aimed at helping its members implement more sustainable practices in the logistics industry.
The guide, produced by BIFA’s Sustainable Logistics Policy Group, is designed to assist logistics companies of all sizes who are looking to reduce their environmental impact and improve their sustainability efforts.
The guide is a practical tool for BIFA members, providing clear, actionable steps that can be taken when embarking on their sustainability journey and provides information on a variety of topics to help foster more sustainable business operations.
The guidance includes information on the utilisation of a GLEC reporting tool; and understanding relevant regulations, to comprehending and measuring Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions; and the difference between net zero and carbon zero.
The guide also covers alternative fuels and transport modes; and looks into the ESG accreditation process; and building a stakeholder engagement programme.
Simple, Actionable Steps: The guide breaks down sustainability practices into easy-to-follow stages, allowing businesses to implement changes gradually and measure progress over time.
Tailored to the Logistics Industry: Developed specifically for the logistics sector, the guide addresses the unique challenges faced by freight forwarders, transport operators, and supply chain professionals in adopting sustainable practices.
BIFA’s Sustainable Logistics Policy Group, which represents industry experts and thought leaders, has been working tirelessly to create this guide in response to increasing demand from members for clear direction on how to adopt sustainable logistics practices.
The guide is designed to support BIFA’s commitment to driving sustainability in the logistics sector, which plays a pivotal role in reducing global carbon emissions.
Director General of BIFA, Steve Parker, said: “We understand that many of our members are eager to reduce their environmental footprint, but may feel unsure where to start or how to implement meaningful changes. “Our new guide offers practical advice and clear steps that will enable companies to integrate sustainability into their operations.
“By making these sustainable practices accessible, we believe that BIFA members will be better equipped to not only meet regulatory requirements but also lead the way in building a more sustainable logistics sector.”The post BIFA unveils step-by-step guide first appeared on Warehouse & Logistics News.
