Japanese automakers have treaded carefully into the EV waters, with companies like Toyota and Lexus taking their dear time releasing electric models. While the pair each offer one electric model in North America, their global EV catalogs are expanding, as Toyota recently announced a new C-HR+ and refreshes for the bZ4X and Lexus RZ at a product event in Belgium.

Toyota said it plans to release six new electric models by the end of next year globally, with the new C-HR+ heading to Europe. While its name suggests a continuation of the current C-HR, the new electric crossover is more closely related to the bZ4X than the gas-powered crossover seen today.
The bZ4X and related Lexus RZ also got a refresh, and Toyota teased a handful of new electric models at the event. Toyota only showed silhouettes of the new vehicles, but at least one appeared to be a Hilux-sized pickup, and another was an electric SUV with a vague Land Cruiser shape.

For now, the new C-HR+ and updated EV models are destined for Europe, but Toyota said it would release more information this spring about which vehicles would come to North America. We’ll likely see a version of the C-HR+, as its small footprint and up to 373 miles of range on the WLTP cycle would make it an appealing vehicle here, as long as the price is right. Most expect a launch for the 2026 or 2027 model year in North America.
