Blabbermouth Dealer Seems to Confirm V8 Returning to Ram 1500, plus Diesel Power Wagon
If there’s one thing on which dealers can be counted, it’s for having more leaks than a screen door on a submarine. This time, it appears a screenshot from an internal email was shared, one which alleges numerous future plans for the Ram brand – including a return of the V8 engine to its half-ton pickups.

If there’s one thing on which dealers can be counted, it’s for having more leaks than a screen door on a submarine. This time, it appears a screenshot from an internal email was shared, one which alleges numerous future plans for the Ram brand – including a return of the V8 engine to its half-ton pickups.
According to a report by an outfit called Sportsnaut, which says it was made privy to the email screenshot by someone ‘in the loop’, Ram is on the cusp of sticking the venerable 5.7-liter Hemi engine back in the 1500 half-ton. Bullet points in the same email also say the mighty 6.4L V8 will become available in trim levels for the truck – because ‘Murica, obviously. There is also confirmation of the TRX returning with more power than before plus the addition of various and sundry trims like the Express and Warlock.
These moves have been hinted at (if not expected) since the Tim Kuniskis returned to run the place, based on comments from the man himself and an admission that it was the now-fired Clueless Carlos Tavares who was apparently personally responsible for taking the Hemi-powered Ram 1500 out behind the barn and shooting it in the head.
Other news in the leaked email include Stellantis stuff we already know, like price cuts to the Wagoneer line, but also fresh news like the availability of a diesel engine in the Ram Power Wagon (big news if true because that HD trim has been Hemi-only because of cooling limitations) and a return of Ram to the NASCAR Truck Series. It’s the latter news with which Sportsnaut chose to lead its own story, which makes sense given the audience of that outlet.
As for official declarations, Auburn Hills announced a new special edition for the Ram 1500 RHO. Set to be called the Mopar ’25 Package, it will feature a raft of details inspired from the machine Mopar showed at SEMA last year. Ram calls it part of the annual factory-vehicle customization program which, in this instance, will layer a further $6,500 on an RHO to bring the MSRP of to $88,730. A total of 250 copies are planned.
