Topshop to launch one day London pop-up next month to kickstart high street return

Topshop is stepping back into physical retail with a one-day-only pop-up event next month in Shoreditch, ahead of a wider high street return teased for this summer.

The event, created in collaboration with house music label Defected Records, will take place on Saturday 10 May at Defected’s basement space on Curtain Road, Shoreditch.

The exclusive “Topshop & Topman In The House” pop-up will offer early access to the brand’s new Talamanca collection – inspired by Ibiza’s sun-washed aesthetic – alongside limited-edition Topshop x Defected merchandise, makeovers, live DJ sets and cocktails by MOTH.

The activation is Topshop’s first in-person shopping experience since it was bought out of administration by Asos in 2021, and comes after a series of cryptic Instagram posts hinting at a retail comeback in August.

Tickets are free and allocated in time slots, though walk-ins will be welcome subject to capacity.

The pop-up will also serve as a hype-building moment for the brand’s full relaunch, as Topshop looks to re-establish itself both digitally and in-store.

It comes just a week after owner Asos confirmed new wholesale partnerships that will bring the brand back to the high street via third-party retailers.

Topshop’s global marketing director Moses Rashid shared the announcement on LinkedIn, saying: “We’ve seen your comments and couldn’t wait until August to see you IRL… It feels like home!”

Rashid, who is also founder of streetwear marketplace The Edit LDN, added that the event is a nod to the brand’s iconic in-store experiences from its Oxford Street heyday — complete with DJs, beauty counters and curated fashion edits.

Topshop was acquired by Asos for £295m in 2021, alongside Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT, after the collapse of Arcadia Group.

Last year, Asos sold a 75% stake in Topshop and Topman to Bestseller, forming a joint venture to help revive the brands across new channels including wholesale and physical retail.

More details around the August return are expected to follow in the coming months.
