Used Car of the Day: 1986 Ford Mustang LX Convertible

As much as I love Fox-body Mustangs, we rarely feature them in this space. No real reason, it just doesn't usually work out that way. But this 1986 Ford Mustang LX caught my eye -- it has low miles but also needs some work.

First, the good news -- the car has only 29K miles on it and no rust (or so says the seller). It's been garaged and maintained. The A/C is converted to modern R-134. It's also in original/stock form -- a big deal, since so many of the surviving Foxes have been modified, often extensively.

The bad is that the rear windows need some work, the hood appears to have a serious panel-gap (probably age-related), and if I know my Fox bodies, those wheels signify it's not a V8. Or, you know, the lack of the famed "5.0" badge also signifies that. Finally, it's an automatic, which will be off-putting to some.

But maybe it's just me -- I still want a mostly stock 5.0 Fox with a stick, in either LX or GT guise. You may be different.

If you're so inclined, this one is for sale in Springfield, Massachusetts for $9,000. Go see the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame while you're in Springfield, and click here to see the listing.
