Topshop confirms standalone stores launch

Topshop’s managing director Michelle Wilson has confirmed that the company will be launching permanent standalone shops.

Speaking to Drapers, the executive said that the brand would have “a permanent store presence at some point,” and that it was “something that we’re working on all the time”.

“In the shorter term that will be something with partner support and in the longer term we will do something standalone,” she explained.

Wilson noted that the brand had “promised on socials that we would be there in August,” and that it had “something planned in August to bring Topshop back into real life again, with a more semi-permanent presence than the one-day pop-up”.

She explained that Topshop and Topman would return to the high street in autumn through one wholesale partner.

“I’m excited to see Topshop back in person. I think the partner that we are collaborating with is an incredible partner,” she said.

“I think it will surprise a few people. I’m looking forward to the day that we launch that and seeing people’s reaction and excitement.”

Following Topshop parent company Arcadia’s collapse in 2021, Asos snapped up the brand and Miss Selfridge, which was also owned by Arcadia, for £330m.

Asos went on to sell a 75% stake in Topshop and Topman in September 2024 for roughly £135m to set up a joint venture with holding company Heartland.

The fashion giant is gearing up for the relaunch of standalone Topshop.com and Topman.com, which are both currently planned for August.
