The Range completes first phase of ex-Homebase conversions

The Range has celebrated an “exceptional” start to 2025 as the business completes the first phase of its former Homebase store conversions.

The discount giant, which acquired the home and DIY chain and up to 70 of its stores in November, has transformed 55 units into The Range superstores since the start of the year and created over 1,600 jobs.

The stores feature its ‘Garden Centre by Homebase’ concept and its ‘Kitchens by Homebase’ showrooms are in selected superstores. It confirmed Homebase’s ‘Bathstore’ showrooms will launch in selected stores soon.

The retailer’s owner CDS Superstores said the second phase of The Range, Garden Centre by Homebase and Wilko roll out will be announced shortly.

The retailer said the business has also expanded its partnership with Iceland to over 150 stores – almost two-thirds of its store estate – and invested millions into its digital transformation over the last 12 months.

Alex Simpkin, CEO of CDS Superstores, operating as The Range, wilko and Homebase, said: “We are incredibly proud of the progress we have made in transforming former Homebase stores into vibrant The Range superstores.

“This project has not only saved jobs but has also enhanced our offering to customers, providing them with a comprehensive shopping experience for all their home and garden needs.

“Our partnership with Iceland and the integration of Wilko own-brand items further demonstrate our commitment to convenience and quality. We look forward to continuing to serve our communities with excellence.”
