South Africa's textile imports up 2.3% to $1.2 bn in Jan-Apr 2025

South Africa imported textiles and textile articles worth 21.56 billion rand (~$1.2 billion) in Jan–Apr, up 2.3 per cent year-on-year, while exports rose 5.1 per cent to 7.96 billion rand. April saw a monthly decline in imports but a slight rise in exports. In 2024, annual imports grew 10 per cent, and exports increased 1.8 per cent, reaffirming South Africa’s position as a net importer in this segment.
