Solar Atmospheres of Michigan Inc., a trusted leader in vacuum heat treating services, has expanded its capabilities by installing new air tempering and cryogenic equipment at its Chesterfield facility. This investment enhances precision and flexibility in thermal processing. As a result, the company can serve more industries with improved quality.
The new equipment includes a car-bottom air furnace measuring 6’6” wide × 4’ high × 14’ long. It was engineered by Heat Treat Equipment Inc. This furnace supports loads up to 30,000 pounds and maintains temperature uniformity within ±10°F from 300°F to 1400°F. Therefore, it is ideal for processing large, heavy components that require precise temperature control.
Additionally, a DMP Cryo/Temper Systems unit is now operational. This system features a 42” wide × 60” deep × 36” high hot/cold zone. It provides temperature uniformity within ±10°F from -300°F to 1200°F. Furthermore, it integrates cryogenic treatment and high-temperature tempering into one solution. Consequently, it supports critical components across aerospace, defense, medical, and power generation industries.

This upgrade is part of a broader growth plan. Both systems are the first of several planned investments in the company’s new 50,000-square-foot facility. This facility also houses 12 existing vacuum furnaces.
