Sainsbury’s has strengthened its Aldi Price Match offer with the addition of more than 100 products as it looks to “supercharge summer value”.
The move takes the number of the supermarket’s items price matched to those on sale at Aldi to 800, which the grocer’s claims is more than any other retailer.
The new price matched products include everyday essentials, such as shower gel, handwash, cotton wool and period care products.
Sainsbury’s is also expanding its ranges across popular categories such as bacon, sausages, feta, and pet food, alongside a wider selection of picnic essentials, including dips, quiche, sausage rolls, pork pies and ice cubes.
The supermarket giant has also expanded the variety of red, white, and sparkling wines price matched to Aldi, to include Champagne, Cava, and Prosecco for the first time.
Sainsbury’s commercial director of fresh and convenience Richard Crampton said: “With household costs going up, we’re working tirelessly to keep prices low for customers when doing their big shop at Sainsbury’s.
“With the biggest ever Aldi Price Match, we’re introducing hot weather favourites such as dips, ice cubes and fizz as well as family staples such as shower gel, cotton wool and period care, ensuring shoppers budgets can go even further this summer.”
The Aldi Price Match expansion comes as rival Asda axed its Aldi and Lidl Price Match earlier this year ahead of the relaunch of its Rollback promotion.
