QOTD: How Insane is Too Insane?
The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X looks like something I'd have had on a poster on my wall when I was 13. It's specs are impressive -- but is the car too crazy?

On one level, I get it. Supercars aren't about being rational or logical, and all that power is meant to be used on a track. And sometimes these cars enter limited production as a homologation special -- sell X units so the factory or an independent team can race 'em.
To be clear, I am glad cars like this exist, and I am not bothered at all by Chevy's actions. The ZR1X will sell in too small a number to negatively impact the environment, and as intimidating as 1,250 horsepower sounds, I have faith that should I ever get to drive one, I have enough skill and common sense to handle it. Even if that meant driving very conservatively. I'm not saying I am a good enough driver to hop in one and push it around Road America at 10/10ths -- few automotive journalists are, and I am not one of them -- but I'd like to think I could handle it at legal-ish speeds on public roads, and that I could putter it around a track at a reasonable (read: cautious) pace.
That said, I do wonder at what point the returns begin to diminish. Or is it a moot point, since most of these cars are likely track-bound?
What say you?
