Lush: ‘we’ll pass on tariffs to US customers’

THE WHAT Lush has announced that US customers will have to swallow price hikes as a result of Trump’s proposed tariffs on imports from the UK and Canada. The ethical beauty firm has also revealed plans to enter the hotel industry.

THE DETAILS According to a report published by Hospitality Investor, the company is exploring opportunities to open its first hotel with a yet-to-be-named ‘British brand’.

THE WHY Lush’s pre-tax loss has widened to £42.5 million from the prior year’s £28 million and sales have dipped 8.5 percent, Retail Gazette reports. The company has already opened its own spa, and with experiential retail trending, and the lines between leisure, travel and shopping becoming ever more blurred, a hotel could be a logical next step and help diversify income.
