There’s a new reason to hop the train to Brighton Beach—beyond a swim in the Atlantic or a stroll to Coney Island.
Breva, a coastal brasserie from the nationally acclaimed Apicii Hospitality, has quickly become a sought-after summer spot, as it officially welcomes diners to its 110-seat oceanfront patio. Add in Sunday Jazz Brunch, a roaming spritz cart on Summer Fridays and a menu from a fine-dining chef who brings just the right amount of polish to the beach, and it’s easy to see why Breva is capturing the city’s summer dining attention.
On Brighton Fourth Street, steps from the sand and a short walk from the buzz of Coney Island, Breva offers the kind of breezy daytime-to-evening energy New Yorkers crave this time of year. Inside, the 100-seat dining room is framed by soaring brick arches and a 20-seat bar and lounge, while a subterranean wine vault with terracotta floors and marble-topped tables serves as a private dining room for 16 to 20.
Executive Chef Travis McGinty, whose résumé includes stints at Marc Forgione and projects with Harold Dieterle, has built a menu that spans brunch, lunch and dinner with thoughtful, unfussy elegance. Appetizers range from East and West Coast oysters with smoked vodka cocktail sauce to buttery Lobster Knuckles “Escargot Style” and Caviar Tots with crème fraîche. Main courses include a Poached Black Bass with miso, a Double Cheeseburger topped with Breva sauce and a Black Angus Steak Frites with chimichurri.
House-made ice cream and sorbet make for a light, beach-adjacent finish: cool, simple and ideal for lingering afternoons near the water. The Caramel Popcorn Sundae channels boardwalk nostalgia with layers of sea salt-caramel gelato, warm house-made caramel, whipped cream and hot fudge. For something classic, the NY Cheesecake arrives topped with tart red currants and roasted pistachios, giving the classic just enough contrast and crunch.
The beverage program gives the cocktails just as much care as the food. A 75-bottle “Book of Vodka” anchors the list, served traditionally by the bottle with house-made fruit compotes and seltzer. Cocktails walk the line between clever and classic. Imagine: a Hibiscus Margarita, the rye-forward Brooklyn or the Flame of Love, which arrives with flamed orange peel and a splash of oloroso sherry. The Martini My Way has already emerged as a house signature, offering guests a fully customizable martini experience.
Breva’s newly launched Le Plage de Brighton series from 3 to 7 p.m. on Fridays is the summer happy hour to know, with a Spritz Cart rolling from table to table and live music setting the tone for golden hour. Guests can grab a table on the patio, order a seasonal spritz and some oysters and take in the view as the sun dips below the horizon on the water.

Sundays bring a slower, sultrier rhythm with the launch of Sunday Jazz Brunch, complete with local musicians and a full menu of coastal-inspired brunch fare. Highlights include Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with a bright yuzu curd and blueberries, a Wild Mushroom Omelette, Steak and Eggs with chimichurri, and a mouth-watering, chipotle-sauced breakfast sandwich on brioche.
For those looking to imbibe during brunch, the Shrimp Mary (topped with a colossal shrimp) and Breva’s Pick-Me-Up Bloody Mary offer savory satisfaction with a house-made mix, while sangria, bellinis and mimosas are built for sharing over a long, sun-drenched meal.
With a seasonal menu, standout design and serious food and beverage talent, Breva is bringing new energy to Brighton Beach’s dining scene — one spritz, one jazz set and one seaside sunset at a time.
