Clase Azul México, the renowned luxury house of fine spirits, has officially unveiled its newest tequila: Clase Azul Tequila Blanco Ahumado. This striking new addition to the brand’s acclaimed portfolio continues the legacy of excellence, heritage, and craftsmanship that has defined the company since its founding in 1997.

Available from June 17, 2025, it stands as a symbol of how ancestral traditions can inspire contemporary innovation.

This unaged tequila is more than just a spirit—it is an artistic and cultural statement. Created using time-honored methods, the process begins with blue agave hearts slowly cooked in an earthen pit oven, fueled by firewood and volcanic stones.

The fire itself barely touches the agave; it is the heat from the stones that works its transformative magic. This technique, steeped in centuries of tradition, forms the core of the tequila’s subtly smoky character.

Once the agave is perfectly cooked, it is shredded and moved into the fermentation stage. Here, the juice and fibers combine with a proprietary yeast, developed in-house from wild strains found in Clase Azul’s own agave fields. This signature yeast lends complexity and richness to the spirit. Following fermentation, the liquid is double-distilled in custom-designed copper stills that further refine the flavor while preserving the essence of the agave.

Clase Azul’s Master Distiller, Viridiana Tinoco, crafted this tequila with a clear vision in mind. She aimed to deliver a smoky profile that honors the essence of mezcal-making while elevating the pure character of blue agave. Her meticulous reinterpretation of each stage of production results in a remarkable expression that pays tribute to heritage while pushing boundaries.

The final product offers a tasting experience as refined as its inspiration. Aromatic notes of smoked agave blend with hints of fresh plum and red apple. On the palate, a bright touch of lemon introduces a mineral-laced body, leading to a smooth and smoky finish. It’s a delicate balance of fire and fruit, of earth and elegance—crafted for the discerning palate.

Every Clase Azul icon comes encased in a decanter that reflects the soul of the spirit it carries, and the Blanco Ahumado is no exception. Its 750 ml bottle is a design triumph, featuring semi-opaque glass that symbolizes the smoke used during cooking. The base is dark ceramic, textured to resemble volcanic rock. Copper accents on the cap and emblem echo the copper stills central to the distillation process.

Clase Azul Tequila Blanco Ahumado arrives at 45% ABV (90 proof), priced at $250 USD. Its debut is celebrated with a specially crafted case, available in limited supply. As with all Clase Azul creations, availability will be exclusive, aligning with the brand’s dedication to rarity, artistry, and excellence.

Founded by Arturo Lomelí, Clase Azul México has grown into a global emblem of Mexican luxury and spirit-making. Its products are now found in over 90 countries, from North America to Europe and Asia. Each bottle not only shares a unique flavor story but also a deeply rooted cultural identity, shaped by its origin in Los Altos de Jalisco.

The company’s evolution into Clase Azul México in 2022 marked a broader vision—one that goes beyond tequila and mezcal. The launch of Clase Azul La Terraza Los Cabos in San José del Cabo highlights this shift. The luxurious venue features a boutique, fine dining restaurant, elevated mixology at El Bar, and a curated tasting experience called A Taste of Culture. This space invites guests to fully immerse themselves in the Clase Azul lifestyle.

Beyond spirits, the company also commits itself to cultural preservation through Fundación Causa Azul. This nonprofit organization supports Mexican artisans and communities by investing in sustainable development, cultural education, and economic empowerment. Aligned with global goals, these efforts reflect the heart of Clase Azul—one that beats with purpose as much as passion.

From the fire-touched agave to the copper-accented bottle, every element has been considered, crafted, and honored. It speaks to a legacy that is distinctly Mexican and universally luxurious, offering connoisseurs a new reason to celebrate the art of tequila.
