Chapel Down, the UK's largest wine producer, has announced the appointment of former Fever Tree and Typhoo Tea executive Lourens 'Louan' Mouton as chief financial officer, company secretary and director. Chapel Down, the UK's largest wine producer, has announced the appointment of former Fever Tree and Typhoo Tea executive Lourens 'Louan' Mouton as chief financial officer, company secretary and director.
In the latest stage of Chapel Down's shake-up of its leadership team, Mouton will join the company from 31 March 2025. The chartered accountant will be formally appointed to the board in early April 2025.
Outgoing Chapel Down CFO Rob Smith will step down upon Mouton's appointment to the board, which will follow shortly after the issuing of Chapel Down's full rear results in early April.
Mouton's experience includes 18 months as CFO and board director at Typhoo Tea. Prior to that he was group finance director at Fevertree Drinks. Mouton also previously held roles at Natural Capital Partners, BHP Billiton and Deloitte.

Chapel Down appointed a new new CEO and director in December 2024. James Pennefather, most recently held a role as CEO of The Lakes Distillery Company, where he led the business’s sale to The Nyetimber Group earlier this year, joined the company on 1 February.
Glenn described Mouton as a "dynamic leader of high-performing finance teams". He continued: "I am confident that, alongside our new CEO James Pennefather, he will continue the delivery of Chapel Down's development and growth."
Mouton said of his new role: "I am excited to be joining Chapel Down as it enters the next phase of its growth for customers and shareholders. The company has a clear and compelling vision and I look forward to leveraging my recent experience at both Fever-Tree and Typhoo Tea to deliver it. Rob leaves an invaluable legacy in strong finance talent, technology platforms as well as the AIM listing, and I will be working closely with him and the Chapel Down leadership team to ensure a smooth transition."
