From wine beginners to connoisseurs, anyone who pours a glass regularly should be thinking more about where they source their wine. Historically, non-BIPOC producers dominated the industry.

So, we’re highlighting some of the best Black-owned wine shops across the U.S. for the next time you need to stock up and shop.
These Black-owned wine shops range from tiny boutiques and sprawling spaces, to hybrid retailers-bars-winemaking facilities. And, they all keep their communities coming back for more. From Atlanta to Chicago to New York, these are the Black-owned wine shops to support from coast to coast.

Coconoir
Oakland, CA
Located on the corner of 13th and Webster streets in Oakland, Coconoir is the brainchild of Alicia Kidd. She began her journey selling wine in 2017 through an online shop with the goal of solely amplifying women and people of color winemakers.
In December 2022, Kidd opened her brick and mortar location in downtown Oakland. Soon the San Francisco Chronicle named her establishment one of the best wine shops in the Bay Area. As the first Black-owned bottle shop in the area, Kidd and her team have created a multi-level experience to include wine tasting, entertainment and community.
