Air India and Apple AirTag partner to trace lost luggage enhancing customer experience

Air India is Asia’s first airline to adopt Apple’s AirTag tracking feature which enables passengers to share the location of lost luggage directly with the airline. This new initiative aims to improve baggage recovery in cases of delayed or mishandled bags, with real-time tracking accessible via Air India’s mobile app or website. Dr. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Air India emphasised: “As we transform into a world-class global airline, we are excited to offer our guests an innovative option to help locate their baggage in case it does not arrive at the destination on schedule.” Passengers with missing bags can report the issue at the airport’s baggage counter, where a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) is filed.
