STAT+: Abridge raises $300 million, pushing health AI deal-making to new heights
AI scribe developer Abridge raised $300 million in a Series E funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

In one of the most substantial health tech deals of the year so far, Abridge on Tuesday announced it raised $300 million in a Series E funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz as the company hopes to capitalize on its momentum selling software that automates clinical note-writing for doctors.
Abridge’s raise follows a $250 million raise announced in February and pushes the company’s valuation over $5 billion. The company boasts over 150 customers. AI scribes, which turn audio from clinical visits into notes for medical records, was made possible by the widespread availability of large language model technology and has seen rapid adoption as health systems race to address clinician burnout.
Abridge and other companies are working to expand their offerings both to better compete in a crowded field and to justify the expense to customers.
