Paul Clement Takes His Seat At The Resistance Table
The elite conservative lawyer is taking another case in direct opposition to the Trump administration. The post Paul Clement Takes His Seat At The Resistance Table appeared first on Above the Law.

Fans of law and order — the concept, not the TV show — were shocked when the FBI announced on social media they arrested a judge simply because she would not let ICE arrest someone in her courtroom. The arrest of Judge Hannah Dugan on charges of obstructing a U.S. agency and concealing an individual to prevent an arrest is some real dystopian shit seen as a move to silence dissent, which has sparked protests in support of the jurist.
But it’s not just the far left that’s outraged by Dugan’s arrest. Conservative lawyer Paul Clement has joined Dugan’s legal team. As reported by Law.com:
Clement will join a legal team led by Steve Biskupic, a former U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Wisconsin and George W. Bush appointee who prosecuted and convicted seven city police officers for the 2004 racially motivated assault of Milwaukee resident Frank Jude Jr.
Other members of the defense team include Craig Mastantuono of Mastantuono Coffee & Thomas and Jason Luczak and Nicole Masnica of Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown.
This isn’t the first time in the Trump II era that Clement has been willing to court the president’s ire in defense of the rule of law. He is representing WilmerHale in their lawsuit challenging the Executive Order targeting the firm.
Though Clement seems to be getting used to going up against the Trump administration, it’s a far cry for someone who is famous for fighting against marriage equality, has an expansive view of the Second Amendment and once complained Kirkland & Ellis (KIRKLAND!) is too woke. Strange times, strange bedfellows and all that.
