New Technologies in Abrasives Result in Optimized Durability and Safety

Breakthroughs in abrasive precision grains, bonding technologies, as well as advances in product design and a priority on ergonomics and safety, usher in a new era of preparation and finishing.

Versatile Brushes and Abrasives for All Industries

Innovative Products of America® (IPA) (Woodstock, NY) has launched a new abrasives division, BrushAll®. This division provides cutting-edge, first-time products while enhancing standard abrasives with new features designed to increase performance and save time. With more than 125 SKUs, BrushAll offers everything from diamond grinding and cut-off wheels to wire hand brushes, connector cleaners and bore brushes. The BrushAll 4.5” Diamond Cut-Off Wheel features a unique core bonding technology that adheres a medium grit diamond to the steel core disc. This helps the wheel maintain its size and shape throughout its cutting life, ensuring consistent reach and performance while lasting 60 times longer than standard abrasives. It also reduces the sparks and debris from use for faster and safer cutting. For use with standard angle grinders with 7/8” arbor.

“The BrushAll division is our answer to the lack of innovation in the abrasives industry,” said Ian Vinci, president of IPA. “BrushAll is focused on creating versatile abrasives that can be used anywhere, with features designed to help users complete the job faster and offer superior results. Countless solutions have yet to be brought to market; through BrushAll we are committed to the ongoing advancement, development and release of new abrasive products.”

Fast Metal Removal and Fine Finishing in One Step
Norton Abrasives,Vortex® Rapid Blend Coarse Grit Wheels and Discs
Norton Vortex Rapid Blend Coarse Grit abrasives offer fast metal removal and fine finishing in one step.

Saint-Gobain Abrasives (Worcester, MA), one of the world’s largest abrasives manufacturers, offers Norton Vortex® Rapid Blend Coarse Grit Wheels and Discs which provide a finishing process solution that takes down and blends welds in a single operation, providing a 30%-to-50% improvement in productivity, while leaving smear-free finishes. The coarse grit wheels and discs are an extension of the Vortex Rapid Blend medium grit offering.

A proprietary engineered Vortex aluminum oxide aggregate grain stays sharper longer, resulting in an increased cut rate while producing a fine finish. Also, the coarse grit offering features Clean Bond® a special resin chemistry that resists shedding when used on sharp edges, making it ideal for deburring with no smearing. For versatile multi-dimensional deburring and finishing that minimizes wheel changes, Vortex Rapid Blend coarse grit has a unified 3D construction allowing operators to use them on the top, bottom or side. The strong unified construction is formed by compressing multiple layers of non-woven web material and bonding together, making the abrasives extremely durable as well as waterproof, washable, conformable and non-loading.

Vortex Rapid Blend coarse grit is ideal for aluminum, mild steel, carbon, Inconel, titanium and stainless steel materials found in axle and thread deburring, finishing and blending applications in industries such as oil and gas, metal fabrication, aerospace, automotive and welding/ MRO.

These wheels and discs are available in densities from high to low, depending on the application. Harder density wheels offer more heavy stock removal, and softer density wheels are suitable for mild finishing applications.

New Blending Disc Lineup Designed for Improved Performance and Product Life
Weiler Abrasives, blending disc
The new blending disc product lineup from Weiler Abrasives is ideal for a wide range of blending, weld cleaning and polishing needs.

Weiler Abrasives (Cresco, PA), a leading provider of abrasives, power brushes and maintenance products for surface conditioning, offers a new blending disc product lineup that is ideal for a wide range of blending, weld cleaning and polishing needs. The blending discs can help operations save time and money through faster material removal and longer product life in such applications as shipbuilding, structural fabrication and welding.

The blending discs are available in ceramic, zirconia alumina and aluminum oxide grain options. The new ceramic discs feature a denser grain coating that provides more cutting surface area, increasing the material removal rate. In addition, an improved ceramic grain formulation is designed to micro-fracture, breaking down to provide more sharp edges for enhanced performance. In product testing, the new ceramic blending discs increased material removal by 35% and product life by 50% compared to previous offerings.

The improved zirconia alumina and aluminum oxide blending discs also deliver better performance and product life. In addition, the expanded blending disc portfolio provides more connection types, with all of the grain options in the lineup now available in Type S and Type R connections. All the discs are now available with a resin fiber or cloth backing. The resin fiber backing helps reduce the pressure an operator must apply to the disc to maximize the cut rate. It also helps retain the grain on the disc, increasing disc life. The cloth backing offers a more comfortable disc that gives the operator greater control of material removal.
