Gold Fields secures new lease to continue mining at Damang
JSE-listed Gold Fields will continue operations at its Damang mine, in Ghana, following extensive engagements with the Ghanaian government, which had initially rejected the company’s application to extend its mining licence and ordered operations to cease by April 18. Gold Fields confirmed on Thursday that it had secured a new 12-month mining lease, which would enable it to safely restart mining activities at Damang.
