THE WHAT? Croda International will introduce a tariff-related surcharge on its cosmetics and personal care ingredients supplied to customers, as the company responds to new U.S. trade tariffs.

THE DETAILS Croda said its local manufacturing and procurement model helps reduce direct tariff exposure but confirmed it will apply a surcharge to cover incremental costs where necessary. The move was disclosed during the company’s first-quarter trading update. In 2024, Croda’s sales from North America — a key market for its personal care ingredients — made up nearly 24% of its total revenue. The company supplies key ingredients used across cosmetics, skincare, and beauty formulations.

THE WHY? With tariff-related costs rising and limited alternative sourcing options available, Croda is passing these additional charges directly to customers. The decision comes after a decline in 2024 sales and profit and amid broader cost-saving efforts planned for 2025.
