New Storopack AIRfiber deliver the same big volume as conventional air pillows with the advantage that they can be recycled with paper.
With AIRfiber, Storopack now offers another innovative solution that perfectly complements its air cushion portfolio. Storopack is the only protective packaging specialist on the market that offers air pillows mostly made of paper in combination with a water-soluble inner coating. The unique combination of materials ensures that this packaging can be recycled with paper together with other products made from paper and corrugated cardboard. The inner coating dissolves during the recycling process and leaves no harmful traces behind. AIRfiber bears the ‘Made for Recycling’ seal by interzero® according to DIN EN 13430. The air pillows are characterized by exceptionally high quality, superior performance, and strong material. They deliver big volume using minimal material, which was previously only possible with conventional air pillows. AIRfiber can therefore be used for the usual packaging applications.
Compared to paper cushions that gain their volume by crumpling, the large volume of AIRfiber created by air offers significant advantages in terms of weight savings and cost optimization. This applies to transportation and handling as well as disposal fees, as less paper waste is produced.
Innovative and fully recyclable
The new AIRfiber air cushions offer the same outstanding, robust, and long-lasting protective properties as conventional air pillows, ensuring secure packaging and shipping of goods. AIRfiber delivers maximum functionality with minimal material usage. The innovative combination of the water-soluble inner coating and paper ensures complete recyclability of paper fibers. Because they are 100% recyclable and made from partially renewable raw materials, Storopack’s AIRfiber is ideal for companies that value both high-quality protective packaging and sustainability. “Effective product design is a key driver of the circular economy. Storopack incorporates eco-design principles to enhance the sustainability of its packaging solutions. Our strategy focuses on reducing excess packaging and minimizing the unnecessary use of resources,” explains Vicentina Pereira, Product Manager AIR & Loose Fill at Storopack.
User-friendly and versatile
The AIRfiber air pillows represent a simple solution for various packaging applications like cushioning or blocking and bracing the packaged goods as well as filling voids in the box. They are easily managed within the packaging process and are produced with existing Storopack air machine systems. The cushions are available at the touch of a button directly at the packing station. Furthermore, AIRfiber provides customers a positive, sustainable unboxing experience. The post Air pillows made of paper first appeared on Warehouse & Logistics News.
