20-21 June Beer at Náplavka The festival primarily showcases small craft brewers and local microbreweries from Czechia. This year in particular it will feature newcomers to the event such as Pivovar Bohdaneč, Broča from Jince, and the Ruxusní microbrewery from Telč. Entry is free, but tastings require the attendees to buy a 0.3L glass mug, available on-site for CZK150, however this can be used for both days. Czech breweries have recently seen a boom in production led by a rise in export sales and local demand for non-alcoholic beer. The country has always been known for having the highest beer consumption per capita in the world and yet of late it has hit a hard time while battling with economic uncertainty with this all having a knock on effect on budgets along with the rising cost of draught beer affecting consumer spending. This means that beer tourism to the country is highly crucial. Last October, Prague city councillors banned night time pub crawls in an effort to target “more cultured” tourists to the area. In terms of its status around the world, Czech beer is still highly revered with elements such as its glassware having been added to the World Heritage list along with Žatec and the Landscape of the Saaz Hops also making the World Heritage list assisting in raising its status.
