Walmart Is Adding a Fast-Casual Hot Dog Restaurant to 6 Store Locations
Walmart has partnered with the Wienerschnitzel brand.

Walmart is adding an in-store, fast-casual hot dog restaurant, Wienerschnitzel, to six of its stores.
According to a press release, the retail giant plans on driving additional customers to its stores with this partnership. It will begin with Wienerschnitzel restaurants in six locations, each owned and operated by a local franchisee.
The restaurants are scheduled to open in stores in Puyallup, Washington; Alamogordo, New Mexico; Tempe, Arizona; Reno, Nevada; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Bakersfield, California. They should be operational by fall.
“Wienerschnitzel has spent decades building a strong reputation, especially on the West Coast, and this expansion into Walmart stores signifies a new era of growth for the brand,” said Shak Turner, director of franchise expansion. “It’s clear Wienerschnitzel’s unique concept fills a specific void for multi-brand franchisees looking to grow their portfolios, which is one of the elements that attracted me to the brand initially. I’m thrilled to join this amazing team and play a part in spearheading initiatives and new partnerships, which will no doubt catapult the brand to new markets.”

Wienerschnitzel locations inside the retail giant will feature the brand’s full menu. These include items such as the restaurant’s Chili Cheese Dog, Junkyard Dog, chili cheese fries, jalapeño poppers, and Tastee Freez soft serve desserts. Wienerschnitzel currently has 340 franchised locations across 13 states and more than 50 stores in various stages of development, according to the announcement.
Walmart Continues To Expand Its In-Store Dining Options
Walmart continues to expand its in-store dining options by partnering with various restaurant franchises to enhance the customer shopping experience. Here’s an overview of some of the franchises currently operating within its stores.
Per Grocery Dive, Walmart has been teaming up with a variety of restaurant brands, tapping into the growing trend of grocers embracing foodservice to draw in more shoppers. Stores offer a variety of food options, all leaning into fast, fresh, and satisfying meals to fuel customers.
Walmart previously partnered with Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ at select stores. The retailer also works with restaurant chain Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, with plans to open 92 corporate-owned units inside Walmart stores across four states.
Uncle Sharkii Poke Bar has expanded its footprint in Walmart locations following the success of its initial partnership. Shoppers can also grab a quick, warm snack thanks to the addition of Wetzel’s Pretzels, now operating in select stores across the country. Other in-store eateries include Nozzleman Pizza Co., Subway, Saladworks, and Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill.
Restaurant partnerships inside Walmart make smart business sense for several reasons. By offering convenient dining options right where people shop, Walmart enhances the overall customer experience and encourages longer visits and potentially larger purchases. For restaurant brands, the partnerships offer high foot traffic, built-in visibility, and reduced overhead costs compared to standalone locations.
