Susan Monarez, President Trump’s nominee to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Wednesday backed up the importance of vaccination — comments that would ordinarily be unremarkable for a public health official, but come as health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. moves to limit access to vaccines in the U.S. and around the world.
“I think vaccines save lives,” Monarez said at her confirmation hearing before the Senate’s health committee. “I think that we need to continue to support the promotion of utilization of vaccines.”
