Founded in 1999, Exporta are experts in high performance reusable transit packaging. We help move, process and store goods through your business safely, securely and sustainably. We do this by providing you with a range of returnable goods handling products including pallets, pallet boxes, containers & crates, alongside expert advice and industry-leading service.
Dale Paterson, Managing Director at Exporta speaks to Warehouse & Logistics News.
What are your best-known products/solutions/services?
We help businesses large and small perform more effectively, efficiently and sustainably. We do this by providing sustainable and returnable transit packaging solutions such as Plastic Pallets, Pallet Boxes, Pallet Collars, Containers and Crates. We have an industry leading service providing next day delivery UK wide alongside unmatched customer service.
Which industry sectors are your customers in and which ones are growing fastest?
Our customers come from all industries that require warehousing or transit goods so there’s no specific list. We are seeing a sustained rise in the food service industry as many businesses move away from some traditional packaging methods to more sustainable and cost effective solutions.
What are your most recent products and innovations?
We’re very proud of our innovative recycled version of the traditional Collapsible Pallet Box. Launched last year this has proved to be extremely popular within the industry and far more cost effective than a virgin plastic solution which is only required in certain environments. We felt we really answered our customers’ needs with this range.
What are the major trends and developments affecting your category and your customers, and how are you responding?
Global supply chains have experienced significant change in the past 3-4 years with consumer buying behaviour driving increases in online fulfilment requirements, along with shipping interruptions meaning whole new types of transit packaging required which we are working hard to fulfil needs for.
Can you tell us about any recent customer contracts and how you helped the customer meet their challenges?
We’ve recently provided Home Bargains with our innovative new recycled Collapsible Pallet Box to be used at one of their main distribution centres. The challenge to us was to provide a robust and cost effective solution to aid in storage of large and bulky items and Home Bargains are delighted with the outcome of the project.
How does business in 2025 compare to previous years?
What’s your strategy for succeeding in the current climate? The key for us is to understand the climate and support our customers with the most cost effective solutions possible. We find the return on investment is the biggest benefit to our customers and many of them are now feeling the benefit of having previously purchased long lasting plastic products that outlast traditional packaging goods.
What’s the latest news from your company?
We’re delighted to have welcomed some new members to our growing team in Q1. Reece Ritchie joins us as our Head of IT and he is making the customer experience even better. Logan Taylor has joined our customer service team and has already made some great connections with our customers and Nicola Glencross has joined our Finance Team.
Can you tell us about any areas where you’re currently making technical advances e.g., safety, sustainability, environment?
We’re constantly looking at ways to implement more sustainable plastic versions of our existing products. It’s not enough for us to be Carbon Neutral, we want to keep developing the products in the industry.
Are you investing in staff training and skills development?
Continual investment in training on products and processes is a key pillar within Exporta, not just for our new starters but ongoing for our longest serving team members. We firmly believe that this investment is a key contributor to our renowned customer service.
Are you taking part in any major trade shows? Can you tell us what you’ll be exhibiting there?
We’re very excited to be exhibiting at IMHX at the NEC in Birmingham this September. We had a fantastic time at Intralogistex in March and we’re looking forward to once again displaying our sustainable transit packaging solutions.
