Sandvik lands record BEV order for South32's Hermosa project

Swedish engineering group Sandvik has secured its largest-ever order for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), with ASX- and JSE-listed South32 selecting the company to supply a fleet of underground mining equipment for the Hermosa critical minerals project in Arizona, US. Valued at about SEK750-million, the order was booked in the second quarter of 2025 and includes a mix of battery-electric and conventional underground mining equipment. Deliveries are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continue through to 2030, with the bulk of the equipment to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.
