H&M shoppers were left unable to make purchases in-store yesterday (4 June), as its payment systems crashed.

In a statement, the fast fashion giant explained that it was aware of the issue and was working to fix it as quickly as possible.

It remains unclear whether online shoppers have been impacted or whether H&M has become the latest victim of a cyber attack.

An H&M spokesperson said: “We are aware of the problem and are looking into resolving it as quickly as possible. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience.”

It comes after a host of retailers have been hit with cyber attacks in recent times, with reports yesterday that The North Face’s customer data had been stolen during a cyber attack in April.

This morning, it was reported that Co-op, which was hit with a cyber attack in April, was nearing “complete recovery” from the incident.

The convenience store chain has been battling with availability issues after it was forced to shut down parts of its IT system at the end of April.

M&S has also been battling an ongoing cyber attack since April, after shoppers were initially left unable to use contactless payments or click-and-collect services over the Bank holiday weekend.
