To celebrate the start of Miami Grand Prix weekend, IWC Schaffhausen took over rooftop hotspot Fabel in Wynwood for an exclusive evening of racing glamour, cinematic storytelling, and high-octane conversation. In true Miami style, the Swiss luxury watchmaker brought together major players from both the real and fictional worlds of Formula 1 to discuss F1, the highly anticipated Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Hosted by F1 commentator Immy Barclay, the panel featured Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff, driver George Russell, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and actresses Kerry Condon and Simone Ashley, all offering behind-the-scenes insights on the film and its unprecedented access to the sport. Fellow F1 personality Günther Steiner made a surprise appearance, joining the celebration.

Set against the electric backdrop of the Miami Grand Prix, the event underscored IWC’s longstanding relationship with Formula 1 and its growing role in cinematic storytelling. F1, which stars Brad Pitt as fictional driver Sonny Hayes, tells the story of a former racing prodigy who returns to the grid to help revive a struggling team. Co-starring Javier Bardem and Damson Idris, the film is a first-of-its-kind production filmed during real races with real teams over two years.

During the panel, Wolff revealed how he helped the production team stay true to the sport by suggesting modified F2 cars to achieve authentic race speeds. Bruckheimer spoke about the engineering breakthroughs needed to film at track velocity, including the development of a new camera rig that captures the heart-pounding action with never-before-seen precision.

Guests also explored IWC’s new APXGP timepiece collection, inspired by the film’s fictional racing team. Highlights included the limited-edition Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328908) with its green dial—modeled after a prop worn by Pitt’s character—alongside the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP (Ref. IW378009) and the 41mm Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 APXGP (Ref. IW388116).
