Currys doubles cash-for-trash reward to encourage tech recycling

Currys has doubled the reward of cash-for-trash scheme to encourage more consumers to recycle their unwanted tech.

The electricals giant will offer customers a £10 off towards a minimum £50 spend when handing in any tech with a plug or battery that they no longer use.

The offer – double the retailer’s usual incentive of £5 off a £25 minimum spend – runs until 8 July.

Customers with higher value items can also access trade-in deals and receive the trade-in value instead.

Currys chief communications and sustainability officer Paula Coughlan said: “This limited-time promotion not only incentivises customers to recycle their old tech, but also helps tackle the growing e-waste crisis in the UK.

“We’re proud to be helping customers save, while making sure their unwanted tech is processed responsibly. It’s better for us, better for customers, and better for the planet to help keep tech in the hands of the people that need it for as long as possible.”
