In the food and beverage processing industries where product temperature must be accurately maintained throughout the supply chain, cold chain management is a critical component of quality assurance. Products can become spoiled or unsafe for consumption without careful monitoring and maintaining the correct temperatures, resulting in significant lost revenue. It is therefore essential to ensure that every stopping point or point where a product can drop out of the correct cold storage temperature is considered, according to Peter Ewers, MIET, Business Development Manager at data logging company Signatrol.

NewCold, a global leader in advanced temperature-controlled logistics, has officially launched operations at its state-of-the-art facility in Warsaw (Nowy Modlin), Poland. The €112 million investment marks a significant milestone in NewCold’s expansion across Europe and underscores its commitment to building a future-proof food supply chain. With a capacity of 94,600 pallet positions, the new site increases NewCold’s total footprint in Poland to 207,200 pallet positions.

Thermo King, a leader in sustainable transport temperature control solutions and a strategic brand of global climate innovator Trane Technologies, showcased its most advanced electrified and connected solutions yet at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California. Thermo King announced that it is working to bring A-500e, an engineless all-electric trailer TRU solution from Europe to North America. The company also showcased the Precedent® S-750i, a hybrid-electric trailer TRU designed for fuel savings and emissions reduction.

Cold Chain Technologies (CCT) and Tower Cold Chain, a subsidiary of CCT, have reached important milestones in their ongoing commitment to sustainability. CCT, a market leader in providing Thermal Assurance Solutions, has exceeded its target of 100 million pounds (lb) of landfill avoidance by 2025, achieving this milestone a full year ahead of schedule. This success highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce waste across the cold chain sector, with more than 12.5 million shipments completed using reusable and sustainable packaging solutions.

It is excellent to see the cold chain both innovating and demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.
