On April 16, 2025, Bvlgari marked a historic milestone with the grand inauguration of its expanded Manifattura in Valenza, Italy—now the largest single-branded jewelry manufacturing site in the world. Spanning an impressive 33,000 square meters, this state-of-the-art facility is a testament to the Roman High Jeweler’s unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the timeless artistry of Made in Italy. The event, attended by industry leaders, government officials, and Bvlgari executives, underscored the Maison’s bold vision for the future of luxury craftsmanship.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Bvlgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, was a highlight of the press conference, which was supported by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. Distinguished attendees included Toni Belloni, President of LVMH Italy, Elena Chiorino, Vice President and Regional Minister of the Piedmont Region, and Fausta Bergamotto, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. Moderated by journalist Mariangela Pira, the panel discussion highlighted the significance of this expansion for Valenza, the global jewelry industry, and Italy’s cultural legacy.

“This project is far more than a doubling in size and production capacity—it is the realization of a bold, contemporary vision for what the luxury industry must become in the future,” said Jean-Christophe Babin. The expanded Manifattura is designed to integrate new jewelry crafts, foster education, enhance workplace well-being, and prioritize environmental stewardship. By 2029, the facility is expected to double its production capacity and create over 500 new jobs, bringing the total to 1,600 employees.
A cornerstone of the expansion is the launch of Scuola Bvlgari, the Maison’s first publicly accessible training school dedicated to jewelry craftsmanship. Developed in partnership with TADS and complementing the existing Bvlgari Jewelry Academy, the school offers professional courses in goldsmithing and gemstone setting. This initiative ensures the preservation of Valenza’s goldsmithing heritage while bridging traditional techniques with innovative methodologies, cementing Bvlgari’s role as a patron of the arts.
The Manifattura is a beacon of sustainable design, operating on renewable energy with a geothermal system and over 4,100 solar panels, achieving a near carbon-neutral footprint. Covering up to 50% of its energy needs on-site, with the remainder sourced from 100% renewable energy, the facility also features advanced air treatment, precise temperature control, plastic-free policies, and water management systems. These efforts reflect Bvlgari’s holistic approach to minimizing environmental impact while maximizing efficiency.

Elena Chiorino, Vice President of the Piedmont Region, praised the project: “This reality embodies Italian manufacturing excellence, where innovation, sustainability, and the transmission of artisanal know-how come together in a virtuous ecosystem. Piedmont is proud to be at the heart of a project that enhances a historic sector like goldsmithing.”
The inauguration was elevated by the unveiling of two contemporary art installations, now permanently housed at the Manifattura. Serpenti, a fluid sculpture by Zaha Hadid, embodies Bvlgari’s iconic motif of transformation, while Vista Aeterna by Sabine Marcelis, with its rotating travertine pillars and reflective mirrors, pays homage to Rome’s eternal allure. A striking mural by stencil artist Lucamaleonte, commissioned for the opening, adorns the tunnel connecting the existing and new facilities, further enriching the site’s cultural significance.
The expansion reinforces Bvlgari’s strategic vision of vertical integration, overseeing every stage of the jewelry-making process, from raw material sourcing to final creation. This milestone aligns with the week dedicated to Made in Italy, coinciding with Leonardo da Vinci’s birth—a fitting tribute to Italian genius. “Made in Italy is the embodiment of our history and creativity, the expression of beauty, excellence, and craftsmanship,” said Fausta Bergamotto. “A project like this stands as a testament to our country’s ability to attract major international investments.”
Toni Belloni of LVMH Italy added, “Today’s achievement is built upon the work of many individuals who continue to preserve Bvlgari’s distinctive Italian identity. We reaffirm our confidence in the growth of the luxury market and remain strongly committed to investing in Italy’s unparalleled system of beauty.”
Bvlgari’s commitment to excellence extends beyond Valenza. In November 2024, the Maison unveiled the renovated Saignelegier Manufacture in Switzerland, a hub for watchmaking that now integrates watch case and dial production. In Florence, Bvlgari Accessori, housed in a restored early 20th-century industrial building, powers the brand’s leather goods production with 100% renewable electricity and ISO 14001 certification.

Since its opening in 2017, the Valenza Manifattura has grown from 370 to over 1,100 employees, welcoming artisans from more than 30 nationalities. With this expansion, it stands as a global symbol of Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability—a shining example of Bvlgari’s vision for the future of luxury.
