BASF begins Black Mass operations in Schwarzheide
BASF has begun commercial operations at its Black Mass plant in Schwarzheide, Germany, one of Europe’s largest. With a 15,000-ton annual capacity, it processes end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, recovering key metals for reuse. The facility boosts BASF’s battery recycling capabilities and supports the EU’s circular economy goals and raw material self-sufficiency.
