Joining a trade association can secure many advantages, as Dave Berridge, AMHSA Secretary, explains.
Automated systems are able to mitigate some of the most challenging issues in logistics today – such as labour scarcity, fulfilling e-commerce orders cost-effectively and building resilience in supply chains. As the voice of the UK’s automated intralogistics sector, the Automated Material Handling Systems Association (AMHSA) seeks to accelerate the adoption of world-class automation across the UK logistics industry.
Sharing best practice
With over 60 members – who between them provide the lion’s share of the UK’s warehouse automation solutions – AMHSA facilitates the sharing of best practice across the industry. This is achieved by distributing market intelligence, organising training workshops and providing networking opportunities, as well as through member collaboration on customer projects. AMHSA events so far this year have included a visit to the Siemens site in Congleton for a Cybersecurity & Sustainability Conference and a tour of the AutoStore solution provided by Element Logic® to marketing specialist, Linney, in Mansfield.
Influencing policy
AMHSA represents its members in liaison with a number of national and international bodies, in order to influence both policy and standards. The association gets involved in the drafting of technical standards – such as CEN and ISO – to enhance health & safety and provide a level playing field across markets. By representing their interests and feeding back information, AMHSA helps its members to remain compliant and competitive in both UK business and international trade.
Exhibitions in 2025
You can meet with no less than 22 AMHSA members at the co-located IntraLogisteX and Robotics & Automation shows at the NEC in Birmingham on 25 & 26 March. In addition, AMHSA will exhibit at IWLEX on 3 & 4 June at NAEC Stoneleigh; the Tomorrow’s Warehouse events in Coventry (15 May) and Manchester (30 September); and IMHX at the NEC on 9-11 September.
AGM next month
AMHSA’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 30 April at its headquarters in Market Harborough. Members are invited to reserve their place via the Events page of AMHSA’s website.
