UK inflation rises to 3.5% in April; clothing prices drag
The UK CPI rose by 3.5 per cent YoY in April—up from 2.6 per cent YoY in March. It rose by 1.2 per cent month on month (MoM) in April compared with a MoM rise of 0.3 per cent in April 2024. Clothing and footwear prices fell by 0.4 per cent YoY in April, compared with a YoY 1.1-per cent rise in March. Such prices fell by 1.1 per cent MoM in April compared with a 0.4-per cent MoM rise a year ago.
