Cervical artery dissection (CeAD) occurs when a neck artery that supplies blood to the brain tears, often resulting from a car crash or other trauma. Although CeAD is only responsible for about 2% of all strokes, it accounts for up to a quarter of ischemic strokes in adults aged 55 years or younger.
